pop the cork
This time something non-academic, but no less intense. Last weekend, our Society of Sommeliers team took home 2nd place at the EHL - Millésime - Lausanne competition, and what a ride it was.
From blind tastings that made us second-guess everything we thought we knew about wine, to a theory round diving deep into the details of Swiss wine, it was intense, eye-opening, and an absolute blast.
We are incredibly proud to guess one wine 100% right in the final, both grape and specific region. And while we came second to Cambridge (the three-time reigning champions), we’ll still drink to that!
The competition was judged by an unbelievable panel:
- Marc Almert, ASI Best Sommelier of the World 2019
- Marie-Thérèse Chappaz, legendary Swiss winemaker
- Christophe Laurent, EHL Values Ambassador
Safe to say: no pressure 😉
Massive shoutout to my amazing teammates Benjamin Gruber and Leonard Joachim Hoffmann. We swirled, sniffed, sipped, spit, and made it to the podium!
Big thanks to the organizing team for an unforgettable experience, both professionally and personally.
Here’s to more wine challenges, see you next year! Santé 🍇
